Blog 85: My Yoga & Meditation Retreat Experience – A Journey of Renewal
Yoga retreat reflections: selfcare, meditation shifts, wellness insights, and growth.
Introduction
The Setting: A Little Slice of Heaven
Picture this—waking up to the soft chirping of birds, the trees swaying gently in the morning breeze, and the golden sunrise filtering into my room. That’s how each morning greeted me at the retreat.
Tucked away in nature, far from the noise and busyness of everyday life, this place was pure magic. The fresh, crisp air, the endless greenery, and the peaceful stillness made it the ultimate reset button—a space where I could truly pause, breathe, and just be.
The Daily Rhythm: A Soulful Routine
🌞 Morning Yoga up to 3 sessions a day if you like– Each morning began with mindful movement and deep, intentional breathing, waking up every cell in my body with pure energy. The retreat offered up to three daily yoga sessions, but I tuned into what felt right. Some days, I practised twice, while on the check-in and check-out days, I joined for just one session—giving myself the space to ease in and out of the experience.
🍃 Guided Evening Meditations – Moments of stillness that let me quiet the mind, tune into my heart, and feel deeply connected to myself.
🥗 Nourishing Meals – Fresh, vegetarian, and oh-so-delicious food that felt like a warm hug for my body. Always so nice when someone else oversees the cooking and cleaning. Plus, the vast choices of food were excellent and so healthy.
🌿 Self-Reflection & Journaling – Time dedicated to exploring my thoughts, desires, and what truly matters to me. Or to sit quietly outside or in my room.
🌙 Evening Wind-Down & Connection – Sharing insights, connecting with like-minded souls, and soaking in the beauty of slowing down.
Each practice and moment were a gift—a gentle reminder of the power of presence.
What This Retreat Taught Me
I walked away from this retreat with so much clarity, and I want to share three powerful lessons with you:
1️⃣ Slowing Down is a Superpower – You don’t have to do more to be more. Sometimes, the most productive thing you can do is rest.
2️⃣ You Deserve to Prioritise Yourself – Making time for yourself isn’t selfish—it’s necessary. You can’t pour from an empty cup, Mumma.
3️⃣ Inner Peace is an Inside Job – Everything you seek—calm, clarity, joy—it’s already within you. You need space to connect with it.
Why Every Mum Deserves This
Let’s be real—mum guilt is real when stepping away for a much-needed time. But here’s the thing: when you fill your own cup, you show up happier, calmer, and more present for your family, your work, and yourself. Taking care of your well-being isn’t selfish—it’s essential.
Whether it’s a full retreat, a quiet cup of tea, or just 10 minutes of deep breathing, you deserve this time. And if yoga isn’t your thing? That’s okay. Some people came to the retreat for rest and space, skipping the yoga, meditation, and wellness chats. You get to choose what fills you up. No rules, no expectations—just what feels right for you.
My Invitation to You
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or disconnected from yourself, this is your sign to pause and reconnect. Whether through a retreat, a simple yoga session at home, or a quiet moment to breathe—you are so worthy of it.
When I booked my yoga retreat:

I knew I wanted to make the most of my time there—not just for yoga and self-reflection, but for deep healing and selfcare.
My extras are so Worth it!
I chose a cozy cottage room to stretch my budget while indulging in soul-nourishing treatments. I shared a bathroom with two lovely ladies. The money I saved went straight into extra wellness treatments—a decision I have zero regrets about!
The Ultimate SelfCare Experience 💆♀️
Each treatment I booked was an experience in itself. Here's what I indulged in:
🔸 Facial: Pure bliss. My therapist's massage was so relaxing and really worked on my pores that I may have even dozed off mid-treatment. 😴 My skin? Glowing.
🔸 Hot Stone Massage: Exactly what my body needed after multiple yoga sessions. Deep, warming, and utterly grounding.
🔸 Reiki: This was my first time trying energy healing, and I was intrigued! It was a beautiful, calming experience that left me feeling lighter.
🔸 Far Infrared Sauna: Another first! I did this a few times and felt detoxed, refreshed, and more relaxed.
🔸Neuro-emotional technique (NET) with Anne Currenti is a mind-body approach that helps identify and release trapped emotional stress that may affect physical health and wellbeing. It works on the principle that unresolved emotions can accumulate in the body, leading to discomfort, tension, or even chronic issues.
NET uses a combination of muscle testing, gentle physical corrections, and therapeutic techniques to clear these stress patterns, allowing the body to restore balance naturally.
🔸Iridology with Anne Current: is a natural health assessment tool that examines the patterns, colours, and markings in the iris (the coloured part of the eye) to gain insights into a person's overall health.
Practitioners believe that different areas of the iris correspond to specific organs and systems in the body, helping to identify potential imbalances, inherited traits (such as those of your parents and grandparents), and areas of weakness before symptoms even appear.
While it doesn't diagnose diseases, Iridology is often used in holistic health to support preventative care and wellness strategies, guiding people toward lifestyle and nutritional changes that may benefit their wellbeing.
This was fascinating for me to learn!
🔸Private Meditation session 1 on 1: A Meditation Shift I Didn't See Coming 🧘♀️
I've been practising meditation for 10 years, but recently, it started feeling more like a to-do list item than a genuine practice. So, I booked a private meditation session to determine what was missing.
During the session, I realised meditation apps weren't for me anymore. I had outgrown guided meditations and was craving silence.
Since then, I've committed to a 24-minute silent meditation practice each day—whenever it fits into my schedule. There is no music, no voice prompts—just me, my breath, and stillness. And honestly, it's been amazing.
Purging for Peace & More Freedom
After coming home from my yoga retreat last Friday, I had a big realisation—there were things in my life that no longer served me (both my time and my money).
So, I took action! That evening I:
🚫 Cancelled subscriptions I wasn’t using (hello, extra $$ & mental clarity!)
📲 Deleted apps cluttering my phone (seriously, why was I holding onto those?!)
🔇 Embraced quiet—no more constant background noise 🎧 (goodbye, auto-playing podcasts & audiobooks).
Instead of filling every moment, I’m just being—whether on the bus, cooking, driving, or cleaning. And guess what? It feels SO good.
3 benefits of decluttering your time & space:
💡 More clarity & focus – No more distractions stealing your energy.
💰 Better financial wellness – Keep the $$ for things that truly add value.
🕊️ Inner peace & presence – Embrace the quiet and connect with yourself.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or stuck, try this! Small shifts = BIG freedom.

3 Questions for Reflection
1. What is one area of my life that feels cluttered—physically, mentally, or emotionally?
2. How do I usually fill my time, and what might I gain by embracing more stillness?
3. After making space for selfcare, what changes have I noticed in my energy, focus, or emotional wellbeing?
Conclusion
A Heartfelt Reflection
As I sit here reflecting on this journey, I realise that this retreat wasn’t just about yoga or meditation—it was about reclaiming my space.
Life moves fast, and as mums, we’re often the last ones on our own priority list. But this experience reminded me that slowing down isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. When we take time to nourish ourselves, we return stronger, more present, and deeply aligned with who we are and what truly matters.
Maybe your version of a reset isn’t a retreat—maybe it’s a quiet morning to yourself, a long walk, or just saying no to something that doesn’t serve you. Whatever it is, permit yourself to take it.
And remember, this is a journey—one step at a time, one deep breath at a time.
What’s one small way you can create space for yourself today? I’d love to hear it. Please reply to this email or DM me IG!
Thank you for being here and for showing up for yourself. Let’s keep choosing ourselves together.
