Jess, tell me about yourself, your personality, and your passion. How do you serve yourself? Also, how do you serve the community?
I’m Jess Patra, a Certified Business and Life Coach, Qualified Breathwork Practitioner, Spiritual Mentor, and Energy Healer. I’m here to support you in shifting your perspective, healing deeply, attracting abundance, and developing a mindset of limitless potential. As the daughter of a Balinese Pemungcu (Priest), I draw on my rich heritage, weaving together ancient wisdom, spiritual practices, and modern coaching techniques to help you achieve lasting transformation.
In my work, I combine traditional Balinese practices with coaching and healing to guide individuals, entrepreneurs, and businesses in releasing what no longer serves them and creating the life and business they’ve always envisioned. Through breathwork, energy healing, and personalised coaching, I help you reconnect with your true essence and clear emotional and energetic blockages. My trauma-informed, holistic approach honours both the spiritual and practical, empowering you to cultivate self-awareness, align with your highest purpose, and manifest your dreams.
As a writer and speaker, I share my connection to the spirit world through trance channelling. I also hold space for growth, healing, and empowerment through my Sacred Circle community, international retreats, 1:1 session, and monthly events. 1. As a busy mum, I often feel guilty prioritising my own needs. How can I overcome this guilt and embrace selfcare without feeling selfish?
To overcome guilt and embrace self-care as a busy mum, it helps to start with a mindset shift: prioritising your needs is essential for your well-being, allowing you to better care for others. There are so many different approaches, and there will be different approaches based on your children’s age. Be kind and patient with yourself and your family.
Remember selfcare is essential; it’s non-negotiable: Just as you ensure your children have nutritious meals and rest, see your selfcare as the fuel that keeps you strong. Selfcare is about sustaining the energy you need to show up fully for your family.
When your cup is full, so is your family’s: When you’re rested, centred and cared for, you can be more present, patient, and joyful. Modelling self-care also teaches children the importance of respecting their needs and boundaries.
Be grateful for every small moment: Embrace moments for yourself, even short ones. A five-minute pause can work wonders. When guilt arises, remind yourself that every time you nurture yourself, you’re replenishing your ability to nurture those you love
Nothing is perfect: Selfcare doesn’t mean being perfect; it’s about listening to yourself and meeting your needs as best as possible. This practice also teaches your kids the value of kindness - especially toward oneself.
2. I'm passionate about starting a business, but the fear is holding me back. How can I build my confidence and take those first steps towards my dream?
I totally understand; I’ve had many businesses before, and each time I started one, I questioned if I was doing the right thing. Stepping into the unknown of starting a business is exciting but daunting. Fear often pops up because it’s new territory, but that doesn’t mean you must let it hold you back. There are many ways you can build confidence and take the first steps toward your dream:
- Ask yourself, ‘Why do I want to start a business?’: Ground yourself in the purpose behind your passion. Why do you want to start this business? How will it serve others? When you’re connected to your why, it becomes a guiding light to keep you moving forward, even when fear arises.
- Small steps are big steps: You don’t need to have everything figured out at once. Focus on the very next step - researching your market, crafting your brand vision or seeking advice from others in business. Each small action builds momentum and gradually shifts fear into confidence. Tip: Focus on the things that matter. I remember starting one of my businesses and worried about creating the logo before properly defining my ideal client! You don’t need to have a logo or website created to start a business.
- Surround yourself with supportive people: Lean into a supportive community or coach who believes in your vision and can cheer you on. When backed by people who understand the journey, taking those first steps feels much more achievable. They will help to shape your vision, ask the right questions and motivate you along the way.
Tip- if you want to start a business purely for the money, it’s best to check if starting a business is the best way. A company takes passion and energy - successful businesses grow from this place.
3. I often feel overwhelmed and disconnected from myself. How can breathwork and spiritual practices help me find inner peace and reconnect with my true self?
I know the feeling - losing that sense of connection with yourself is easy when life is so full. Breathwork and spiritual practices can be powerful tools to bring you back to the centre and help you rediscover that inner calm.
Breathwork has been a powerful medicine for me to reconnect back to myself. When you practise breathwork, you're using your breath to anchor you in the present moment. As you breathe deeply and rhythmically, you release stress, clear mental fog, and create space to feel grounded. This helps quiet the mind, letting you drop into your body and truly reconnect. Breathwork allows emotions to flow without judgment. With each breath, you can move through stored-up feelings, letting go of what's no longer serving you. It's an incredibly freeing process that lightens the emotional load and allows your authentic self to shine through.
For spiritual practices - meditation, prayer, or simply setting intentions - try different practices and find the one/s that makes you feel good inside and lights you up. And remember - we have seasons too! It's okay to tweak your spiritual practices depending on how life is going for you at any given time. Spiritual practices allow you to tap into a sense of something greater than yourself, which can be a source of comfort, guidance, and clarity. When you connect spiritually, you're reminded of who you are beyond the daily stress and expectations.
Once you find your regular practice, you will naturally feel a more profound sense of inner peace. These beautiful moments will help bring you back to that core part of yourself that feels calm, reconnected, and aligned with who you are. A daily practice can help you realign with your values, purpose and intuition - making it easier to show up in the world as your most genuine self.
Tip - A few minutes of breathwork or spiritual practice can shift everything when you feel disconnected. They bring you back to your inner sanctuary, where you can find peace, purpose, and a deeper connection to your true self.
4. I've always been drawn to the idea of a supportive community. How does your 'Sacred Circle' foster connection and empower women to thrive together?
The Sacred Circle is a nurturing, inclusive space designed to foster connection and uplift each person on their unique journey. We come together through monthly masterclasses, healing experiences, and shared practices to heal, transform and support one another. It’s a place of mutual empowerment, where each member’s growth is celebrated, and we rise together through shared wisdom, compassion and encouragement. 5. I've heard about the transformative power of breathwork. How can it help me release emotional blockages and experience deeper healing?
Breathwork truly is transformative and one of my favourite healing modalities - it’s a way to connect deeply with yourself and release emotional blockages that might otherwise stay buried. It’s a powerful medicine that helps with:
Accessing the subconscious mind: Breathwork helps you tap into layers of the mind and body that are often inaccessible in daily life. By focusing on your breath, you bypass the thinking mind and dive into a more intuitive, feeling-based state. Without overthinking or judgement, unresolved emotions or old wounds can surface naturally.
Releasing stored emotions: Emotions are energy; when we don’t process them fully, they can get stored in the body as tension or discomfort. Breathwork is like a gentle, internal cleanse, allowing these emotions to move, release, and transform. This can feel freeing, like letting go of a weight you didn’t realise you were carrying.
Reconnecting with your true self: When you release blocked emotions, you create space for a deeper connection with your authentic self. Breathwork helps you feel more grounded, more in tune with your needs and more aligned with who you really are beneath any stress or past pain.
Activating self-healing and calming the nervous system: Breathwork naturally activates your body’s healing mechanisms. As you breathe, you increase oxygen flow and stimulate the nervous system to calm the mind and balance emotions. This holistic healing process brings a sense of peace and rejuvenation to both body and spirit.
Tip - there are so many different breathwork styles out there to experience. Try as many breathwork styles as possible to see which one resonates with you. I have a monthly Clarity Breathwork event at Prana House in Thornbury if you want to try Clarity Breathwork.
6. I'm ready to invest in myself and create lasting change. How can your coaching program support me in achieving my goals and living my best life?
I work with spiritual seekers, wellness enthusiasts, creatives, coaches, healers or those feeling called to step out of conventional roles and live more authentic, purpose-driven lives. For business coaching, they are ready to step fully into their authentic role as leaders and business owners, share their medicine with the world, call in soul-aligned clients, and create impact-driven businesses. Through 1:1 coaching and group coaching within my Sacred Circle community, I create spaces where they can feel safe to be seen, reconnect with their essence, heal past traumas and embrace their most whole selves.

One thing I wish people knew about me is that I’m writing a self-help book close to my heart. It’s inspired by my spiritual journey as the daughter of a Balinese Priest and Healer, which has deeply influenced my understanding of healing, connection and culture. Through this book, I want to create a space where vulnerability is welcomed, and authentic expression is celebrated. I believe that when we share our stories and embrace our true selves, we empower each other to grow and transform. I hope this book will resonate with others, inspiring them to connect with their inner wisdom and live more fully.
